Welcome to the Field Notes
A short introduction to this site, why it exists, and what to expect from these posts.
This is the first entry in what I’m calling Field Notes — a place to write about the work I do, on both sides of my life. Some posts will be technical: the kind of postmortems, design decisions, and on-call stories that you usually only hear over a drink. Others will be from the rescue side: lessons from the rope, the water, and the long nights at festivals.
The two worlds have more in common than they look. Both reward calm under pressure. Both punish you for skipping the boring fundamentals. Both are, at their heart, about getting people through a bad day.
